Town set sights on Football League

AMBITIOUS Warrington Town FC have set themselves a goal of achieving football league status in the next five years.
With a new consortium of business backers providing a cash injection and new signings being made in time for next season the club believes it has been punching below its weight for far too long.
Club Chairman Dave Hughes, who has helped keep the club afloat through difficult times with the support of Director of Football Derek Brownbill, said: “These are exciting times to be involved with Warrington Town.
“For a town the size of Warrington we should really have a team with football league status and we have set ourselves a goal to try and achieve this.
“We believe with the new people on board we can achieve our dream.”
Last season more than 1,500 people attended a Liverpool Senior Cup clash with Liverpool, while more than 1,000 supporters attended a pre-season friendly with Everton.
The club is now looking to build upon this with special season ticket deals, new kit sponsors and new players.
The latest signings have all played at Leigh RMI. Neil Smith is a centre forward, Liam Coyne is a midfielder who has also had action with FC United and was voted North West Counties Player of the Month last season during a spell at Winsford. The third signing is defender Tony Dunne.
Now in the new look Midlands division of the Unibond League Town only require three automatic promotions to achieve football league status. The current stadium is already suitable for the Unibond and not far off meeting the requirements of the Conference.
To achieve football league status there would need to be some major improvements and with this in mind the club is looking for new backers to come on board and help achieve its goal.
Meanwhile the club and its sponsors have been boosted by news that the Unibond League will be screened on TV next season.
Games will be shown live in pubs and clubs as part of the historic deal with Invision Ltd involving the rights to broadcast highlights and live matches in a six figure, three year deal.
As well as being beamed through PCs, UniBond football will also be seen in Pubs and Clubs throughout the league’s catchment area.
To celebrate the dawn of a new era the club is offering season tickets for adults for £100 if bought before July 31st (normally £120) while a family season ticket (two adults and two children under 16) is being made available for the first time costing just £200 before July 31st (normally £250).
The family ticket will also allow admission for all home cup games.
Tickets are available by calling club secretary Barry on 0161 790 1490 or 07733446412 or be emailing [email protected]
