WARRINGTON Wolves’ winger Chris Hicks has committed to the club for another year after agreeing a one-year extension to his contract to keep him at the club next season.
Head of Coaching Tony Smith is delighted to have retained Chris for next season following what is proving to be another great year at the Wolves.
Chris joined the club back in 2008 from Manly Sea Eagles and made a great impression on the fans scoring 10 tries in his opening seven games for the club. He started out as fullback but has since settled into his original position on the wing.
This season has seen Chris cross for 23 tries to date with an impressive hat-trick in two games including our exciting display against Huddersfield in the Cup.
At the age of 33 Chris is one of the senior members of the team and with his experience within the sport is able to offer advice to the many young players coming through the squad.
Wolves boss Tony Smith said: “I am delighted to be working with Chris again. Aside from being a good player on the field he is a big character off the field. He plays a big role in the way we are going as a club. He has been able to stay pretty much injury free. Having relinquished his kicking duties he has probably prolonged his career. He has shown he is still a terrific finisher and a very solid member of our team.”
Chris with the support and backing of his family is delighted to have another playing season ahead of him. He said: “I am very happy to be staying at the Wolves for another year. The fans are amazing and their support both home and away has been fantastic. We have a great squad and very good coaching staff. I can see no reason why we cannot challenge for titles next year.”
The Wolves have not disclosed how they have managed to get around the overseas quota ruling following the addition of Bret Hodgson to the squad for next season but say they have remained within the rules.
