WARRINGTON Borough Transport – the borough council-owned bus company – has appointed a new managing director.
David Squire will start in early August and joins the company from Arriva North West, where for the past three years he has held the position of head of operations.
Mr Squire, (pictured) who lives in Warrington, has had more than 27 years experience in the bus transport industry having held a variety of positions and roles during that time, including managing a bus fleet out of six regional depots.
Coun Les Hoyle, chairman of Warrington Borough Transport said: “David has extensive public transport experience and offers the commercial skills that will develop our business and network in the future.
“We look forward to the benefits that he will bring to the business and I am very pleased to welcome him to our team.”
For the last 12 months, WBT operations director Charlie Shannon has been acting managing director, following the departure of John Bannister, who had been managing director for approximately 12 months after being finance director for more than 20 years.
WBT is one of the few remaining municipal bus companies in the country and it was named UK Bus Operator and Shire Operator of the Year two years ago in the annual UK Bus Awards.
