Hay field hit by blaze

FIRE crews were called to Lymm when fire broke out in a field, off Oughtrington Lane.
Flames spread rapidly and dense smoke billowed around St Peter’s Church.
Local resident Lesley Campbell – who took this picture of the outbreak – said the fire spread dramatically within a matter of 10 minutes.
Within minutes it was licking at the fence on Oughtrington Lane.
She said: ” The smoke was very thick and it quickly became apparent that it would be unwise to drive through it.”
At one stage Oughtrington Lane was closed to traffic.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined – but one possibility it that it was caused by the hot sunlight. The field was full of hay, lying out to dry prior to being baled.
Two fire appliances were called to the scene.
Picture, by Lesley Campbell, shows smoke billowing around the graveyard at St Peter’s Church.
