WARRINGTON Town FC have landed a plum home tie with local neighbours Leigh Genesis in the preliminary round of the FA Cup.
The tie will be played at Warrington’s Cantilever Park on Saturday August 29 and is sure to attract a bumper crowd.
Leigh have experience of Cantilever Park after playing two “home” games there last season when their own ground was unavailable.
Relegated from the Unibond Premier last season Leigh are managed by former Manchester City sar Gary Flitcroft.
The winners of the tie will have the prospect of another mouth watering local derby at home to Unibond Premier outfit Nantwich Town on Saturday September 12.
Town manager Joey Dunn said: “I am delighted with the draw as it should ensure a bumper crowd and a great atmosphere.
“It is a local derby and a game we can win.”
Last season Warrington met Nantwich in the FA Trophy, narrowly losing out 1-0 in a closely contested match.
