A last gasp try for young centre Rhys Evans salvaged a point for Warrington Wolves in a 20-20 draw at Hull FC.
Warrington Wolves got off to the worse possible start to the new Super League season as they conceded a try in the opening minute to Hull’s Kirk Yeaman.
Despite the early the set back the Wolves rallied as Aussie second rower Trent Waterhouse scored on his debut after 11 minutes, with Ben Westwood adding the extra.
Warrington extended their lead two minutes later through winger Rhys Williams, although Westwood was wide of the target to make it 4-10.
Five minutes from the break Danny Tickle crossed for the home side and then added the extras to level the scores but the Wolves had the final say of the half as Simon Grix went over with Westwood adding the extras to make it 10-16 to the Wolves at the break.
But within two minutes of the re-start Hull closed the gap as Shaun Briscoe went over although Tickle couldn’t add the extras.
Hull took the lead on 55 minutes as Tickle grabbed his second try and added the extras to make it 20-16 to the home side as the game flowed and ebbed from end to end.
But a last gasp try from Rhys Evans salvaged a draw for the Wolves diving in at the corner as he went over in the 78th minute but Westwood couldn’t land the conversion.
