TWO men’s health events have been organised at Orford and Padgate Libraries next week.

Hosted by LiveWire the events will provide the opportunity for men to speak with a LiveWire Lifestyles Advisors to get some fast, free information about how to take the first steps to improve their health.

Whether that’s quitting smoking, losing weight or helping men get back into exercise.

The evening will start will a short presentation, which will be followed by the opportunity for men to discuss their health concerns with a Lifestyles Advisor on a one-to-one basis.

As part of the event, free blood pressure checks and weigh-ins will also be on offer at both libraries.

The invitation isn’t just for men. Family members and friends who can support men recognising and preventing their health issues are also welcome.

Wendy Molyneux, strategic library manager at LiveWire, said: “Men have worse health than women; they are likely to die younger, smoke more, be more obese and are twice as likely to get the most common forms of cancer.

“So dads, lads, grandpas, uncles, brothers come along to one of our Men’s Health Evenings to find out how you can improve your health and wellbeing.”

The Men’s Health Evening will be held on Monday 20 November at Orford Library, 6.30pm-8.30pm and on Wednesday 22 November at Padgate Library, 6.30-8.30pm.
