A Charity dragon boat event raised £18,000 for new children’s play area at Warrington Hospital.

A total of 11 teams competed across three rounds and the team that came out on top was Hair Force 1, captained by the on-site hairdressers at Warrington Hospital.

The total amount raised by all teams came to an astonishing £18,000, making it the most successful fundraiser the charity has ever organised.

All of the money raised will go towards the charity’s Making Waves campaign, which aims to build a brand new outdoor play area for Warrington Hospital’s children’s ward. The charity is looking

to raise an ambitious £100k for the project and the funds raised from the Dragon Boat event means they’re well on their way to smashing their target.

Helen Higginson, Charity Fundraising Manager at WHH Charity said: “May I sincerely say a huge thank you to all who took part and supported this fabulous, fun day out on the water – our 167 participants really made a huge splash!”

The date proposed for next year’s event is July 1. Visit whhcharity.org.uk/dragonboat to register your interest.
