Warrington Walking Day road closures

WARRINGTON Borough Council has authorised the following road closures for the annual Walking Day which takes place this Friday (June 30).

Various road closures will be in place as local churches make their way to the town hall lawn, where the annual walk will start at 10.30am.

Between the hours of 7:30am and 1:00pm

Between the hours of 10:00am and 1:00pm as required for the safe passage of the Parade as the procession progresses along the undermentioned streets:

Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term “vehicle” and must not be ridden through any of the above named streets during the hours specified. Any person willfully acting in contravention of the above Order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.

  1. Rather than cancel Walking Day, as the reason for this festival is the same now as it was when it was inaugurated, please close the pubs until after the walk. Put family back as the focal point. This is a community festival led by Church organisations in the Town and, in this time of upheaval and disruption, community is all that matters. I would like to see the Festival of Faith extended to other than Christian Denominations in an effort to bring greater understanding and a cohesive world where faith doesn’t divide us.
