‘One to watch’ artist finds inspiration for new work

A young painter labelled ‘one to watch’ by Saatchi Art has found inspiration in Warrington Museum & Art Gallery’s collection for a new exhibition.

Louise Giovanelli, 24, has attracted huge interest in her work since studying fine art at Manchester School of Art, for which she was awarded a first degree.

Her latest project is A Throw to the Side, a new collection of haunting yet beautiful work which explores the sensorial possibilities of paint.

Using the museum and art gallery’s collection as a starting point, Giovanelli has reconsidered and reconfigured certain pieces to create new content with alternative narratives.

Her starting point was the work of John Warrington Wood, a sculptor of mythological and biblical subjects with an interesting connection to both Warrington and Rome.

The exhibition takes place on Friday May 5 to support this talented young artist at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, Museum Street, Cultural Quarter, WA1 1JB.
