Vote for the next Member of the Youth Parliament

Warrington’s Youth Council – IMPACT- is asking young people to get voting now  for their next Member of the Youth Parliament (MYP).

Members of the Youth Parliament are chosen in every part of the UK. In Warrington, the elected MYP represents the views of local young people for a period of two years. They are supported by two deputies and members of IMPACT.

Once elected, MYPs meet with MPs, local councillors and youth groups. They organise events and projects, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates and influence decision makers on the issues which matter most to the young people they represent .

All MYPs have the opportunity to get together once a year at the UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting.

The UK Youth Parliament has over 369 representatives from across the UK, all aged 11-18. It gives the young people an opportunity to be involved in a democratic process at a national level, empowering them to take positive action within their local communities, based upon issues of shared concern.

Young people in Warrington are being asked to vote for both a new Member of the Youth Parliament and a deputy member to support them.

There are five candidates for MYP and three candidates for deputy. Each person can vote for one MYP and one deputy.

Anyone between the age of 11 and 18 can vote. There are ballot boxes located in each school, college or local youth centre in Warrington.

Details of each candidate can be found here, along with a video in which they each outline their priorities and pledges:

IMPACT – Warrington’s Youth Council – is a forum made up of young people who want to have a say in how the town and services on offer in Warrington can be improved for them.
