Give your training programme royal recognition

TWO Warrington firms were among the first in the country to receive royal recognition in the Princess Royal Training Awards.

Launched last year by the  City & Guilds Group, the  Princess Royal Training Awards – a programme which celebrates the impact of training and development on business performance.

Among the recipients were Warrington-based, Fujitsu and Home Instead.

Fujitsu was awarded for its Distinguished Engineer Scheme which created cross-disciplinary networks which led to enhanced performance and a reduction in staff turnover.

Home Instead was awarded for addressing a need of dementia carers. As well as providing dementia training to staff, the organisation started to offer shorter courses to clients’ families and community groups which resulted in business growth and increased client satisfaction.

These were just two example of how learning and development has improved business performance – and there are many more which are going unrecognised.

Those who apply are measured against three hallmarks of excellence:

  1. Training/learning and development is integral to business performance.
  2. The programme is delivered efficiently and effectively.
  3. The programme has an impact on the success of the organisation and its people.

Last year, 33 organisations reached the standard and received an Award at a reception hosted by HRH The Princess Royal at St James’s Palace. Recipients ranged from prestigious car manufactures, to healthcare organisations to charities.

Organisations of all sizes were represented but with one thing in common – a commitment to developing their people which led directly to business success.

The Awards, now in the second year, are open for entry until March 31 and they are free to enter. Businesses of all sizes and from all sectors are encouraged to apply.
