MORE than 300 young people attended an Apprenticeship Fair organised by Warrington South MP David Mowat at the Parr Hall.

Forty companies were on hand to offer advice, training and apprenticeships to pupils from a number of local schools including Sir Thomas Boteler, Bridgewater and Great Sankey high schools.

The event was sponsored by United Utilities, Sellafield Ltd and Ombudsman Services.

Mr Mowat said: “It was great to see so many young people looking at apprenticeships today. The Government has set itself an ambitious target of three million new apprenticeships by 2020 and hopefully some of the conversations that were had today will help to add to that number.

“Apprenticeships are, quite rightly, increasingly popular and they benefit both the apprentices themselves and the company they work for.”
