Man arrested after Academy Way bomb threat

UPDATED: POLICE have arrested a 45-year-old man after Academy Way in Warrington town centre was closed earlier today following a bomb threat.

The incident took place outside DW Sports and Warrington Market at around 11.20am.

Police closed the road following eye witness reports of a man acting suspiciously and allegedly making threats to set off a bomb.

Police have confirmed that a 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and a public order offence.

The road is now re-opened.
