Volunteers wanted for Warrington Festival

THE Warrington Festival is recruiting volunteers to help out with this year’s events including the English Half Marathon, LiveWire Mile and music events Starsailor and Icons of the 80s.
From September 16 to October 2, a number of different activities will be held across the town that celebrate sport, culture and entertainment.
Volunteers are needed to provide a welcoming environment for visitors and signpost them to events, help out behind the scenes, support runners along the route of the half marathon, and spread the word about the different activities on offer.
There are a range of different volunteering roles on offer including half marathon water station helpers, medal presenting, course marshals, festival research, as well as more generally providing a welcoming helpful face.
Volunteers will receive a free bus pass to get them to events thanks to Volunteer Programme sponsor, Network Warrington, along with a Warrington Festival branded t-shirt.
Last year, hundreds of volunteers helped out at the festival’s events, including the Pixie Lott concert, the cycle festival and wolf crawl, having a fun day whilst also gaining skills and experience.
Emma Hutchinson, chairman of Warrington Festival Steering Group, said: “Volunteers made a real difference to the festival last year and helped us put on some of the fantastic events which brought the whole town together.
“We hope that even more people sign up to volunteer at this year’s festival and gain some invaluable skills that will help them achieve their goals, meet new people and enjoy the festival atmosphere.”
The festival organisers will be holding a training event in September for anyone who is interested in taking part where they will map people’s skills and interests against the Warrington Festival programme.
