SEVEN Great Sankey High School students have had their poetry included in a national anthology.

Year 7 pupils Ellie, Eve, Isabelle, Adele, Lucy and Hannah, together with Owen from Year 8, entered poems in the national “Poetry Rivals” competition in November 2015.

Their poems were chosen for publication in the anthology, “Poetry Rivals 2015 – Beyond the Page”, based on the judge’s criteria of “perception, imagination, expression, creativity and use of language”.

The anthology is scheduled for publication on 31st March 2016.

As well as now being published poets, the pupils also have a chance of being picked as one of 40 finalists that will have the chance to perform their work in the Poetry Rivals Under 18s Slam Final, which will be held in May 2016.

Finalists will be asked to perform their poems in front of a live audience and a panel of professional judges, with the chance to win prizes such as 50 Puffin Poetry books, an Aspiring Author package from Spiderwize and Kindle Fire HDs.
