PLANS have been unveiled for a solar farm providing energy for more than 1,300 homes on a 33-acre site at Lymm.

Wiltshire-based Good Energy, who operate six solar farms across the country, want to build the facility on four fields at Wildersmoor Hall Farm, off the A56 Higher Lane.

Plans have yet to be submitted to Warrington Borough Council but the company is to hold a public exhibition at Lymm Youth and Community Centre on Thursday, August 20 from 3pm to 8pm.
Members of the project team will be present to discuss the proposals and listen to feedback from local residents.

There will also be an unstaffed display upstairs at the community centre on Thursdays August 27 and September  3 from 9am to 12 noon to provide another opportunity for residents to find out more about the project. Feedback forms will be available and comments can also be submitted via the website www.goodenergy.co.uk/wildersmoor-hall-farm-solar-farm

Project developer Felicity Sargent said: “The 33-acre site extends across four fields and is well-screened by existing hedgerows in and around the farm.

“The proposal is for a 5mw solar farm, capable of providing enough electricity to meet the needs of around 1,300 average homes.

“The proposed solar farm is being designed to allow sheep to graze between and around the panels, so enabling the landowner to continue his family’s farming tradition while diversifying into renewable electricity generation.”

Good Energy say they are dedicated to powering more UK homes and businesses with home-grown, 100 per cent renewable electricity. Their six solar farms each has plans in place to enhance biodiversity and support existing farming practice as well as generating much-needed green energy.
