OFSTED inspectors had one word to describe St Matthew’s CE Primary School at Stretton – “Outstanding”.
Pupils’ behaviour, the school’s work to keep pupils safe, the teaching of writing, governance – all have been rated as outstanding.
Pupils love their school – and everyone is delighted that they have been given the highest possible rating following the previous inspection which rated the school as “good.”
Inspectors say the pupils’ love of school is reflected in their excellent punctuality and above average attendance.
Pupils throughout the school, including children in the reception class make excellent progress and are very well prepared for the next stage.
In addition, the report states that “pupils say that they feel safe in school because of the high quality support and guidance they receive.
Staff morale is high dnd governance outstanding.
“School leaders have successfully created a school community in which high standards of teaching, learning and behavior are expected and are the norm,” the inspectors’ report adds.
The report recommends the school should continue to establish opportunities for staff to share their excellent practice so that it can improve further.
Cllr Jean Carter, Warrington Borough Council’s lead member for children’s service said: “The school has clearly worked hard and effectively to drive up standards and I am delighted that they have received this accolade from Ofsted.
