DESPITE the rain it was on with the show as the 175th Warrington Walking Day took the streets marking a very special day for 88-year-old George Mockler and other walkers.
THOUSANDS of people – walkers and spectators – were converging on
Warrington town centre this morning for the annual Walking Day.

A VILLAGE carnival with a Hollywood theme takes place tomorrow (Saturday)
WARRINGTON Borough Council has received a ‘Good Egg’ award – for
pledging to source and use only eggs from cage free hens in school
dinners and all other council catering services.
PLANS to replace an existing dwelling in a country lane with a
new one featuring a striking, two-storey glazed atrium at the front,
have been rejected by a Government-appointed inspector.
ALL 72 primary school kitchens in the borough have now achieved the
Warrington Food Award – which means that the dozens of kitchens across
the town are operating at a four or five star standard!
COUNCIL chiefs are investigating ways of attracting more visitors to
the Warrington area – and improving the information available to them.
