WARRINGTON Wolves have announced a partnership with Widnes Vikings, which will include players moving on a dual-registration basis.
The Wolves have previously had deals with Championship sides Rochdale and Swinton, but now link up with their Cheshire rivals, who have gone part-time this season.
Their squad already includes a number of former Warrington players, including Jack Johnson, Sam Wilde and Pat Moran, while the Wolves signed Anthony Gelling and Keanan Brand from the Vikings at the end of last season.
Young Wolves hooker Danny Walker also came through the academy and made his Super League debut at Widnes.
Chief executive, Karl Fitzpatrick, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Widnes. As clubs we have always had a health rivalry but strong relationship, this new partnership can only be beneficial to both parties.
“Admittedly, with the introduction of the reserves there may be limited opportunities to dual reg players, but there will be times when we need players to gain game time and we may not have a reserves fixture.
“The partnership will provide another platform for players from both sides to play.”
The clubs will build an off-field association and it will enable the Vikings to work with the Wire performance team.
