THE new Lymm Sanctuary Hub, based in the Lymm Library Annexe, provides a range of valuable community services to local people, including those with additional needs, the young, elderly and vulnerable.

Current or planned activities include:

•Affordable counselling for individuals and couples;
•Alpha course – a place to discuss the big questions of life, faith and meaning over food and a short DVD;
•Debt advice and financial life skills from CAP (Christians Against Poverty), an organisation commended by Money Saving Expert;
•Energy costs – free and impartial advice on reducing energy bills and energy efficiency;
•Marriage course – an 8-week course to help couples build stronger relationships;
•Memory Café – a welcoming, safe place for sufferers of memory loss, their family members or carers, supported by Asda Community fund;
•Positive Parenting – a 6-week course for parents of primary-aged children;
•Taste4Life healthy eating – an 8-week course for eating disorder sufferers and their families plus those wishing to manage food more healthily;

Other community activities include baby & toddler groups, book clubs, craft groups, first aid, fitness & well-being events, IT and photography courses, midwifery/health visitor services, TEFL classes, tutoring and youth groups. Onsite catering is also offered to users of the Hub by the Sanctuary Café next door.
Lymm Sanctuary Hub is also the overseeing charity of Lymm Business Centre also based in the Annexe which provides affordable office space and hot-desking, event and meeting room space, and business support services. For centre information, email [email protected] or call 01925 737950.
November will see further activities by the Memory Café and another CAP Money Course.

Alison Summersfield, Memory Café coordinator, says: ‘We meet every other Thursday from 1-3pm in the Community Room. Join us on 7th and 21st November where you will receive a warm welcome from our volunteers, refreshments, and a range of activities.’

Reviewing the last CAP Money Course, one attendee said: “I’m very proud that I’ve taken vital steps towards gaining control of my banking and finances”. The next course starts on 19th November at 7:30 pm in the Community Room for three consecutive Tuesday evenings.

The Hub welcomes enquiries from local people looking to deliver an event or activity and with ideas for future projects. It also needs more volunteers to help with general admin duties and specific community programme delivery.
