Caravan blaze led to temporary closure of railway line at Winwick

THREE fire crews attended a caravan blaze which resulted in a temporary closure of the West Coast railway lane at Winwick, Warrington, earlier today.

At around 6.45am firefighters from Warrington and Merseyside attended reports of a fire next to the railway line on Alder Lane, Winwick.

On arrival the team discovered a caravan which was well alight.

The team used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. They then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

A temporary closure was put in place on the railway line while the team dealt with the fire.

Crews remained in attendance for two hours and 50 minutes.
