Lymm Big Sing raises over £700 for homeless charity

LYMM Big Sing certainly lived up to their name this Christmas with a bigger than ever 70 strong choir giving three performances of everything from medieval to more modern day carol, helping raise funds for a Warrington based charity for the homeless.

Two of these were to a packed Methodist Church on Dickensian Day with a third show at the Crown Inn on December 17.

The choir, led and directed by Michael and Susan Healey has gone from strength to strength since it was formed six years. And this year for the first time the Big Sing were also loud in their support of a local charity with collections at the concerts bringing in over £700 to support Room at the Inn, the homeless shelter run by Sue Blyth and her team in Warrington.

“We have always sung just for the pleasure of it “ explained choir member Tina Watmough “but it did occur to us this year that as we don’t charge admission, and as it is Christmas, people may be willing to make a donation on the way out. We were amazed and delighted by the generosity of audiences which resulted in our being able to hand over £720 to Sue Blyth’s team who do such important work .”

The choir will take a break now before getting together again in April to prepare for their Summer performance which is always a highlight of Lymm Festival.
