MIRION Technologies – a global provider of radiation detection services – has moved onto Warrington’s Birchwood Park.

The company, which works with customers in nuclear facilities, military and civil defence agencies, hospitals, universities, national labs and other specialised industries, has moved onto the park’s prime warehouse development, Cavendish Place.

Moving to Birchwood Park builds on the firm’s existing UK operations at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, and is driven by its ambition to grow the business in the nuclear decommissioning market.

Specifically, Birchwood Park will host R and D and manufacturing of radiation measurement systems and services for nuclear decommissioning and waste management applications.

James Cocks at Mirion Technologies, said: “As we looked to expand our operations, Birchwood Park provided the ideal location to create a new base. The park’s proximity to our key customers in the North West, potential R and D partners and its sustainable access to talent at leading universities were all huge factors in our decision. We’re looking forward to now taking advantage of the networks both here at Birchwood Park and in the wider North West.”

Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Birchwood Park, added: “Birchwood Park has a long history of collaboration in research, design and development, particularly in the nuclear services industry. Mirion is the perfect fit in this regard and will be a welcome addition to the diverse cluster of science and engineering businesses on the park.

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mirion to our thriving business community. I look forward to seeing them benefit from the endless opportunities for growth here.”

In 2018, Birchwood Park is celebrating 20 years of growth. Since 1998 the park has almost tripled in size, providing 1.1million sq ft of office and warehouse space and accommodating over 165 businesses.

B8 Real Estate and JLL acted on behalf of Birchwood Park.
