Battle to free woman trapped after motorway lorry crash

FIRE and rescue crews battled for more than an hour to release a woman trapped in the wrecked cab of a lorry on the M6 near Warrington.

The woman was trapped when two heavy lorries collided on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between Lymm and Croft at 7.52am this morning.

It took more than a hour to extract the woman and crews were at the scene for more than an hour and-a-half.

Paramedics were also involved in the operation and the woman was taken to hospital. But no details of her condition have been released.

Fire engines from Lymm, Birchwood, Warrington and Leigh were involved in the incident.
