A Warrington family who say they owe their baby daughter’s life to the outstanding care of two children’s hospitals are giving something back this Christmas by raising money for young patients who will be spending the festive season in hospital.
Matthew Baldwin and his partner have gone all out with their Christmas decorations at their Padgate home, hoping to spread a little festive cheer while raising funds for Warrington Children’s Ward and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The couple have decided to launch a fundraising appeal to buy toys and gifts for children who will be unable to spend Christmas at home with their families.
It follows what Matthew described as one of the most challenging years their family has ever faced, during which both hospitals played a vital role in caring for their young daughter, Alóra.
In an emotional appeal, the family said:”We wouldn’t have our gorgeous smiley Alóra if it wasn’t for the outstanding help from both of these hospitals, so it is only right to give back by helping to raise funds to buy children toys that won’t be spending Christmas at home this year.”
Matthew and his partner are asking local people to support their appeal, stressing that every donation, however big or small, will make a difference.
They added: “We have decided to make a GoFundMe page to help all the children who will be spending Christmas in hospital have a little smile on their faces this year.”
The family hope their fundraising efforts will help bring some happiness to children and families facing a difficult Christmas, while showing their appreciation to the hospital teams who have done so much for them.
