POLICE have issued a stark warning to would-be gatecrashers at Creamfields after a large number of young people attempted to climb over the festival perimeter fence in a bid to get into the event.
The warning comes as police revealed that 26 people have been arrested so far during the policing operation surrounding the Creamfields music festival at Daresbury, near Warrington.
According to a police spokesperson, the arrests include 17 drug-related arrests, three for assault, one person wanted on a warrant, two public order arrests and three for possession of weapons.
But officers faced a further challenge on Saturday night, August 29, when large numbers of youngsters apparently tried to bypass festival security by climbing the fence.
Police said security staff stopped the would-be gatecrashers and removed them from the site.
A total of 34 young people were also issued with dispersal orders, meaning they were required to leave the local area or risk being arrested.
The police spokesperson said the operation had so far been “really successful”, but made it clear that officers and security teams will be taking an even tougher approach tonight.
The message is blunt: NO TICKET = NO ENTRY.
Extra police patrols and security personnel will be deployed around the festival tonight as officers attempt to prevent further attempts to breach the site.
Police are also reminding potential attendees that Creamfields is strictly an 18+ event and entry is only permitted with a valid ticket.
The warning extends beyond those attempting to get into the festival.
Police have issued a direct message to parents of teenagers in the local area, urging them to know where their children are.
The spokesperson said:”Additionally, if you’re a parent of a teenager in the local area, please ensure that you know where your child is, otherwise if they try to gain entry to Creamfields you may find an officer knocking on your door.”
The latest figures underline the scale of the policing operation, with arrests already covering drugs, violence, public disorder, weapons and an outstanding warrant.
And with extra patrols and security being deployed tonight, police are making it clear that anyone hoping to sneak into Creamfields without a ticket should expect to be stopped.
For those without a valid ticket, the message from police could hardly be clearer: stay away.
