POLICE are seeking help from the public following reports of a child aged under 10 using an illegal e-bike in the Great Sankey area of Warrington.

Over the past few weeks, officers across the Great Sankey area have seen an increase in young people using illegal e-bikes.
One caller recently reported that a young child believed to be under 10-years-old was witnessed using one of the high-powered vehicles.
In light of this, officers would like to stress the importance of only using electric scooters on private land, as it is not currently possible to get insurance for the privately owned vehicles on the road or in public spaces. This, in turn, means it is illegal to use them on our roads and in town centres.
Riders and owners should also be aware that, if you are using an e-bike/e-scooter, you risk the vehicle being seized by police – who do have the powers to confiscate them.
A police spokesperson said: “We would strongly advise anyone who either owns an illegal e-vehicle or is in a position of responsibility over someone who owns one, to seriously consider familiarising themselves with the relevant laws surrounding where they can and cannot be used.”
Anyone with any information in relation to the anti-social and dangerous use of these vehicles is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the website, here – https://orlo.uk/cVXLr
