WARRINGTON Town have signed their promising teenage winger Liam Shipton on contract after a promising start to the season.
The fans’ favourite celebrated signing on the dotted line with his home town club by scoring the winning goal in Warrington’s F.A cup victory over Maine Road on Saturday.
Liam aged 19, from Lymm, was previously at Blue Square Conference side Wrexham when he was just 16.
The former Lymm High School student, who played for the school and for Woolston Rovers as a youngster, joined Warrington last year after being released by Wrexham.
He has now been rewarded with a contract after impressing manager Shaun Reid.
“Liam is a great young talent and it is great news for the club that he has signed a contract with us,” said Shaun.
“With the help of the coaching staff and management I am sure he will grow into a top player and then I am sure a professional club will come knocking on the door.”
Warrington have gone six games unbeaten since the start of the season, including winning through two qualifying rounds of the F.A Cup.
They are next in action away at Bamber Bridge, tomorrow, Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm in their re-arranged league fixture, which was postponed due to a water logged pitch.
