WARRINGTON-based care charity, Community Integrated Care, has reached a landmark milestone.
Eleven individuals ran for the charity at the TCS London Marathon – one of the world’s most celebrated sporting events – carrying with them the stories, ambitions and the Best Lives Possible mission, for the thousands of people the charity supports every day.
In a year when over 1.2 million people applied for a place on the start line, Community Integrated Care secured 12 coveted Gold Bond entries.
With the runners having raised over £27,000 for the charity, these funds will directly power four vital programmes: What To Do, Care to Cook, Speak Up for Safety, and Inclusive Sport and Physical Activity – each designed to give people with learning disabilities and autistic people the tools, confidence and opportunities they need to live lives full of choice, aspiration and independence.
Jim Kane, chief executive officer of Community Integrated Care, said, “We’re incredibly proud of every runner who took on this challenge. This is so much more than a race – it’s a celebration of the passion, dedication and partnership that drives our charity forward every single day. The funds raised will change real lives, and I’m inspired by each and every one of our team.
“From every mile run to every pound donated, we’d like to say a huge thank you to our amazing runners and everyone who has supported them along the way. We couldn’t do this without you!”
Four colleagues from within the charity took on the challenge: Aiden Robertson, Kurtis Marsh, Luke Parry and Natalie Powell.
Joining them were seven partners and supporters: Community Integrated Care Ambassador and Rugby League legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan MBE; Anthony Atherton from the Rugby Football League; Charlie Shephard from the Lawn Tennis Association; and charity supporters Charles Westmoreland, Freddie Munro, Jude Magno and Kieran Brady.
Community Integrated Care has secured Gold Bond places through to 2029 and are already on the lookout for their 2027 team. Running the TCS London Marathon for Community Integrated Care means more than 26.2 miles. It means joining a movement that opens doors, builds independence and transforms lives for people with care and support needs across the UK.
