POLICE have issued a fraud warning over counterfeit £20 notes circulating in retail premises in the Warrington South area of town.
Counterfeit £20 notes are being used to pay for goods/services in retail premises. Following these reports, police are urging businesses to be extra vigilant at this time.
Enquiries regarding these incidents are currently on going.
If someone attempts to use a suspicious note:
• Contact police immediately on 999.
• Record any descriptions, CCTV of offenders and if safe to do so, vehicle information.
• Don’t return the note to them.
Police will endeavour to take robust action against those involved in producing or circulating counterfeit currency in Cheshire.
