A Warrington-founded endurance karting team is preparing for an exciting and demanding year of long-distance racing throughout the UK and Europe, as it continues to establish itself in one of the most physically and mentally demanding disciplines in motorsport.
As an endurance karting team, We Racing competes in endurance style races (typically lasting anywhere between two to twenty-four hours) where the team needs to find a delicate balance of speed, strategy, consistency and teamwork over extended time frames. Unlike traditional sprint style karting, endurance racing gives equal importance to driver management, pit stop strategy, mechanical reliability and the ability to perform when fatigued, as many times these events are raced during the night and into the next day.
Although this will be only the second full competitive season for We Racing, the team have already developed a strong reputation in the endurance karting community. With consistent performances, a high standard of race operation and a clearly defined team identity, the Warrington-based team has quickly established itself as a prominent force on endurance grids.
This year, We Racing will enter multiple endurance events, including several 12 and 24-hour endurance events that challenge both individual performance and collective effort. One of the events that We Racing will be entering is the Spa 24 Hours race, which is widely regarded as one of the top endurance karting events in Europe.
Rather than focusing solely on achieving results at specific events, the team’s focus is still on developing long-term and establishing a sustainable model.
“Each endurance event is a project of its own,” explained Team Principal Matt Dajnowski. “You’re not simply coming to the event to go out and set fast lap times, you are also managing personnel, equipment, strategy and pressure for the duration of the event. Given that we are aproaching only our second full season, I think we have done extremely well.”
The drivers within the team agree with that sentiment and highlight the challenges presented by endurance competition:
“You get tested in a way that sprint racing does not,” said driver Phil Beckett. “There is fatigue, night stints, traffic, changing conditions…it’s all about performing in an environment that is always changing. To be recognized so early in our career in the paddock, indicates to me the amount of hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”
We Racing was formed in Warrington and aims to combine competitive ambitions with a community ethos. The team seeks to make endurance motorsport available to drivers (and not only drivers) from a variety of backgrounds, creating opportunities for them to experience the thrill of long distance racing.
In addition to competitive activity, We Racing emphasizes the importance of preparation and development, including structured testing, driver training and operational planning as part of the pre-season build up. As the season develops, We Racing will spend numerous hours on track, developing experience across a variety of tracks, conditions and race formats.
With the start of the season rapidly approaching, We Racing’s focus is on delivering strong performances and continuing to grow and develop as a team in the endurance karting scene.
