Warrington Women’s Aid offers support for all affected by Domestic Abuse

WARRINGTON Women’s Aid, a local charity dedicated to supporting those experiencing domestic abuse, is calling on the local community to recognise that help is available for everyone impacted by this issue.

Domestic abuse affects people of all genders, backgrounds, and ages, and no one should face it alone.
At Warrington Women’s Aid, they provide life-saving support through their local refuge — a safe, confidential space offering temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing abuse. They also deliver vital community-based support for individuals and families who need help without relocating to refuge. This includes support for men experiencing domestic abuse in the community, as well as dedicated services for children and families to help them heal and rebuild.

Community services include:

– Confidential drop-in sessions for advice and immediate support
– Recovery programmes focused on empowerment and long-term healing
– Safety planning to help people stay safe in their current situations
– Training courses for professionals, organisations, and community members to better understand and respond to domestic abuse

They believe in a community-wide approach: domestic abuse thrives in silence, but together we can break that silence and create safer spaces for everyone.
“Domestic abuse does not discriminate, and neither does our commitment to support,” said Gillian McKinnon, Chief Executive Officer. “Whether someone needs refuge accommodation, community outreach, help for their children, or resources as a man facing abuse, Warrington Women’s Aid is here with non-judgmental, specialist help. We encourage anyone in Warrington who is worried about themselves or someone they know to reach out—early support can make all the difference.”
