CHESHIRE Police have named a former Warrington area commander as the next Deputy Chief Constable of the county.
She is Helen King (pictured) – currently an Assistant Chief Constable on Merseyside – who was the first commander of Cheshire’s Northern Area, which includes Warrington.
Ms King started her police career in Cheshire, 25 years ago, and served in Warrington during the early years of her career.
She will take up her new appointment on April 2, on the retirement of current Deputy Chief Constable, Graeme Gerrard – another former Warrington police chief.
Margaret Ollerenshaw, chairman of the Police Authority said: “We are delighted to make this appointment, especially as Helen spent all her early career with the Cheshire Constabulary. She obviously knows the area well and will have a real commitment to delivering and improving police services here.”
Ms King said: “Cheshire Constabulary has an excellent team of officers and staff fully committed to serving the public of Cheshire. I am delighted and proud to be selected by the Police Authority to help lead that team and rejoin the force I joined as a Constable twenty five years ago”.
Chief Constable David Whatton said “I am really pleased that Helen has been appointed and I am very confident that she will make a significant contribution to delivering outstanding policing for the communities of Cheshire”.
