Grappenhall march on towards promotion with 14th win on the bounce

GRAPPENHALL continued their march towards promotion to the ECB premier division of the RSK Cheshire County League with their 14th win in succession.
Travelling to Sale, they restricted the home side to a below par 204-7. Albert Pennington bowled superbly to take 3-39 and the rest of the attack also bowled well.
In response, Grappenhall knocked off the total with relative ease for the loss of only four wickets.
Pennington was again in form, top scoring with 46 not out while Ben Bodha contributed 41 not out.
Grappenhall 2nd played out a draw at home to Brooklands, finishing on 230-8 after the visitors had hit 246-5.
Stanley Pennington picked up three wickets and Steve Rooney top-scored with 67 and Iain Wright hit 59.
On Sunday, Grappenhall’s Broad Lane ground staged the 2nd XI T20 finals day – with Grappers in the first semi-final of the day against favourites Chester Boughton Hall.
Grappers posted a challenging 202-5, Iain Wright hammering 88 from just 49 balls. Ben Clissold slammed 43 from 27 balls.
Unfortunately, Chester’s class told as they chased down the total with an over to spare and losing only two wickets.
There was a mammoth crowd for the full day’s cricket and Grappenhall could be proud of the s how they put on.
Warrington eased their relegation fears with a seven run victory at Upton.
Ashley Scholes hit 57 and Patrick Tyrrell 65 as Warrington totalled 194-9. The home side were bowled out for 187 with Umer Zebb taking 4-60 and Muhammad Abid 3-38.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park lost by seven wickets at home to Stockport Trinity.
Batting first after winning the toss, Lymm were all out for 156 in the 45th overs. The visitors knocked off the runs in the 30th over for the loss of three wickets.
Appleton enjoyed a big win at home to Chester County Officers.
Batting first, Appleton hit a daunting 268-8 in 45 overs. Skipper Adam Pearson hit 89, Martin Cooper 63 and Rory Kellett 80 not out.
The visitors were never in the hunt and were all out for 153. Moshin Rafique took 4-34.
Appleton 2nd won by 66 runs at Port Sunlight after being put in and scoring 235-9. The home side were held to 169.
Playing away at Europa Exiles, Appleton 3rd were bowled out for 107, Alex Cookson 32 not out, and then saw the home side coast to a nine wicket victory.
Appleton 4th lost at home to Irby after batting first and scoring 170-7, skipper David Hurst top-scoring with 54.
Irby chased down the runs for the loss of eight wickets, Roger Cawthorne taking 5-26.
Glazebury chalked up a four wicket victory at home to Burton.
The visitors were all out for 181 with Matthew Brunt taking 3-25 and Jack Warhurst 3-35.
Glazebury replied with 183-6, Jordan Carroll hitting 61, Andrew Calvert 53 and Dean Lord 32 not out.
Travelling to Rostherne, Glazebury 2nd went down by six wickets.
Steven Bell top scored with 34 as Glazebury struggled to 104 all out.
Rostherne coasted to 106-3.
Women’s Cricket
Appleton, who still have an outside chance of the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League title, inflicted a heavy defeat on Chester Boughton Hall.
They bowled them out for 67, Emily Page taking 3-10 and then hit off the runs without loss, Holly McCurrie 36 not out and Emma Barlow 27 not out.
Lymm Oughtrington Park went down heavily at in-form Buxton, bowled out for 67 after Buxton had hit 132-4
