Three casualties but no serious injuries following road traffic collision near town centre

UPDATED: NO serious injuries were reported following a road traffic collision in Warrington town centre earlier today (Friday) which resulted in lengthy traffic delays following a road closure.

The collision involved a car on its side on Wilson Pattern Street at its junction with Bold Street. Traffic was diverted down St Austin’s Lane and Museum Street.

Emergency services including, police, fire and ambulance attended at the scene.

Heavy traffic was reported in and around the town centre, with police diverting traffic heading into town from the south down Mersey Street.

Fire crews from Penketh and Lymm attended at the scene of the two-vehicle collision that took place at 14:14.
The collision involved two cars, one of which had turned on its side trapping a casualty inside. Firefighters were able to fold down the roof and extricate the casualty, passing them into the care of paramedics. Two other casualties were also assessed by ambulance crews.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Wilson Patten Street at 2.10pm on Friday 12 August following reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a white Fiat 500L and a white Toyota IQ.
“Only minor injuries have been reported.
“Both vehicles have been recovered and the road will reopen shortly.”
