Hat-trick of victories for Grappenhall

IT was a good weekend for Grappenhall in their RSK Cheshire County League with all three senior teams winnng their games comfortably.
The 1st XI beat Bramhall at Broad Lane by eight wickets. Grappers bowled Bramhall out for just 140 with Josh Hayes picking up three wickets to finish the innings off and Lewis Porter, Nick Woods and Ian Hall picking up 2 apiece.
Grappers chased down the total at a canter, with 10 overs to spare and for the loss of only two wickets. Grant Hodnett and Albert Pennington both finished not out with 56 and 54 respectively.
The 2nd XI won away at Timperley, with Grappers posting a massive 278- 8 wickets, declaring after 45 overs. Dan Adkins opened the batting and scored a superb 112, ably supported by Ross Arrowsmith with 72.
Timperley were bowled out for 178 with Ross Arrowsmith capping off a superb personal day with four wickets.
The 3rd XI won at home to Lindow to make it a full house for the weekend. Grappers recovered well from 23- 4 wickets to post 163, largely thanks to skipper Dave Tully with an excellent 88 not out.
In response Lindow were in a similar early position to Grappers but the bowling attack didn’t let up and kept the pressure on the batsmen Tom Ellis did the damage early on as he picked up three wickets and Fameesh Azeez finished things off with four wickets with his leg spin.
Warrington went down by 29 runs at home to Port Sunlight.
After electing to field first, Warrington saw the visitors hit 212-7 in 50 overs.
Muhammad Abid was the pick of the Warrington bowlers with 3-60.
Charlie Jones hit 34 and Alexander Berry 31 as Warrington struggled to keep up with the run rate and although James Rudd hjt an unbeaten 51 late on could only muster 183.
Warrington 2nd went down by 46 at Bollington.
The home side hit a challenging 238-5 and although Warrington made a good fist of their reply, with opener Jack Waterside and skipper Thomas Jones both hitting 49 they were never really in the hunt.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by 109 runs at Over Peover.
The home side elected to bat first and hit a challenging 219-7.
Zaheer Khan took 2-46, Travis Scholes 2-13 and Phil Whelan 2-33.
Lymm’s batsmen never got going and they only reached the respectability of 110 thanks to a last wicket stand of 37, with last man Nick Chadbourne hammering an unbeaten 27.
Appleton lost by 47 runs at Old Parkonians after the home side hit 158-9, despite Adam Peters, 32-32 and Amir Aslam, 3-21, bowling well.
In reply, Appleton could only muster 111, skipper Adam Pearson top scoring with 60.
Glazebury were held to 109-8 after electing to bat first at Offerton. Dave Nicholson top-scored with 19.
Offerton hit off the runs for the loss of two wickets.
At Hurst Lane, Glazebury 2nd lost by 118 runs after being bowled out for 72 by Styal.
