GRAPPENHALL found the going hard in their first home game of the season after their bowlers struggled on a wicket which favoured the batsmen early on.
Things changed after tea and Grappers were clinging on with their last pair at then wicket when the overs ran out – and still 58 runs adrift.
Visitors Marple elected to bat first and reached 223-7, with the home bowlers struggling to make inroads.
Aussie Nick Woods took 2-58, Aaran McCabe 2-37 and Adam Roylance 2-76.
Grappers’ batsmen struggled after tea with only Ben Bodha, 61 not out and Tom Higham, 25 showing much form.

Grappenhall 2nd were well beaten at Stockport Georgians when they were dismissed for just 83, chasing the hosts 232
all out.
On Sunday, Grappenhall 3rd gave the club something to celebrate when they beat Northwich handsomely in the T20
Cup. Grappers posted 217- 5 off their 20 overs with Ben Clissold hammering 94. Northwich were bowled out for just
64.
Warrington had to be content with a draw at Romiley after the home side declared on 263-6.
Muhammad Abid was the pick of the bowlers with 4-56.
Richard Lyons hit 91 as Warrington started well in reply. But wickets fell at regular intervals and the batsmen could not keep up with the run rare and the side finished on 211-7, despite 33 not out from Akhil Lawande.
Warrington 2nd went down heavily at home to Congleton after being bowled out for 76. The visitors reached their
target for the loss of on;y one wicket. Skipper Thomas Jones top scored with 27.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park enjoyed a seven wicket victory at Wirral, dismissing the home
side for 107. Jake Hughes top=scored with an unbeaten 48, Jean-Michael Fouche hit 22 not out and Travis Scholes hit 20.
Sam Stanier hit 48 and Jordan Carroll 34 as Glazebury totalled 110 at Prestbury. But the home side totalled 112-7 to claim victory, despite Sam Stanier taking 4-36 and Sean Caine 3-19.
Glazebury 2nd were bowled out for a meagre 57 – of which Stephen Brunt hit 22 – after visitors Mellor had amassed 273-7.
Appleton beat Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge by 30 runs after hitting 161-7, Martin Cooper 65, Adam Pearson 30 and Ali Sharif 36. The home side were dismissed for 131, Christopher Priest taking 4-22, Adam Peters 3-20 and Sriharsha Kakalapudi 2-39.
Appleton 2nd won by four wickets when they took on The Groves at home and bowled them out for 163.
Women’s Cricket
LYMM Oughtrington Park suffered a heavy defeat at Heaton Mersey and Cheadle in the Cheshire Women’s League.
The home side batted first and totalled 154-3.
Lymm were never in the hunt and could only muster 84-7, with Amy Buckley top scoring with 18.
