THREE Warrington schools competed in a competition hosted by the new Amazon delivery station in the town.
Chapelford Village Primary, Park Road Primary and Oakwood Avenue Primary took part in the competition to design the banner, supported by the team from the new delivery station.
The schools each received Robotic STEM kits from the Warrington delivery station and Amazon supported the winning school – Park Road Primary with £1,000.
Simon Magee, delivery station manager said: “We were very impressed with all three designs, and it wasn’t an easy task picking the winning banner. On behalf of the Amazon team in Warrington, I would like to thank the schools for participating and we hope they enjoyed the competition.”
Cllr Cathy Mitchell, deputy leader, of Warrington Borough Council, said:“I was delighted to help judge the competition. It was really difficult to choose, as the children’s pictures showed a lot of imagination – they were brilliant! I also enjoyed meeting the team, who showed me around the new site”
Sophie Oakes from Park Road Primary added: “The pupils had a wonderful time designing the banner and it’s great to get them involved with businesses in our community. Big thanks to Simon and the team for the STEM kits and the donation, it’s much appreciated.”
The donation and STEM kits were made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations in the UK.
The company is also providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than five million healthy breakfasts in England.
In addition to creating over 60 permanent jobs, the new Amazon delivery station has also created hundreds of driver opportunities locally.
