A 7-year-old boy from Grappenhall has sold his prized Pokémon cards to help raise funds for the homeless charity, Room at the Inn, based in Warrington.
Enterprising Leo from St Wilfred’s Primary School in Grappenhall set up a stall and raised an impressive £34, which will help fund a safe night indoors and provide essential supplies for a homeless person in Warrington.
Leo explained: “ I learned about charities in RE at school and then started to think how I could raise money for people who aren’t as lucky as me. I wanted the money to help homeless people because it makes me feel sad when I see people in Warrington that don’t have a home.”
As Volunteer and Fundraising Co-ordinator Morven Turner says: “Sometimes the biggest acts of kindness come from the youngest members of our community.
“With incredible thoughtfulness and compassion, Leo set up a little stall outside his house and sold his own Pokémon cards to members of the public. He proudly displayed that all money raised would go towards helping homeless people. Leo has shown that no matter what age, every act of kindness can make a real difference to someone’s life.”
Leo’s dad James added: “It has been a lovely, heartwarming experience for us as a family. I’d like to thank Morven for supporting Leo and giving him a certificate and the confidence that he is on the right track. This has certainly planted a seed in Leo that will stay with him forever.”
