Five players depart Warrington Town

WARRINGTON Town have confirmed the departure of five players, with the chance of their 2020/21 season resuming looking remote.

Defenders Evan Gumbs and Eddie Clarke, long-serving versatile defender/midfielder Mitch Duggan and striker Jordan Buckley will all join Flint Town United in the Welsh Premier League.

Also making the switch to Wales is winger Jack Mackreth, who has joined Bala Town.

They follow winger Jack Dunn and goalkeeper Charlie Albinson out of the exit door since the Yellows last played a game, back in December.

The club said it had allowed players to seek opportunities elsewhere to play football and earn elsewhere, with the Welsh Premier League expected to resume playing games shortly as it falls under elite sport guidelines.

With just nine league games played this season, it’s likely that the Northern Premier League will be declared null and void for a second successive season.

The Yellows were fourth in the table when the season came to a halt – they have finished third in each of the past three seasons.
