A TALENTED young designer has been crowned Construction Champion at this year’s National Building and Construction Awards.
Jack Bennion, 30, a designer for Redrow NW, based in Daresbury, was presented with the Construction Champion (More than 100 Employees) Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the industry and dedication to supporting both colleagues and the wider community.
Unlike the judged award categories, the Construction Champion Award was based entirely on nominations and public votes.
“While I knew I had a chance, owing to that fact it was a public vote, I didn’t honestly think I would win,” said Jack, who lives in Chester with his fiancée Beth.
“I know some of the other finalists and know how much of an influence they have on the industry. It means a lot to have won especially with it being a public vote. It is fantastic that people have recognised my hard work and achievements and feel that I am deserving of this award.”
Always keen to embrace new opportunities, Jack now plans to further develop his skills, progress his career and continue making a difference through his volunteering work.
“While I am a designer for Redrow, I am also a CIOB chair for Merseyside & Cheshire, a client champion, Tomorrow’s Leaders Champion and have held previous roles such as D&I Representative and Redrow Ambassador; promoting the industry to the next generation of construction workers,” said Jack.
“As someone who is still only 30 years of age, I’m still relatively early in my career, so I am always keen to champion the youth of the industry, whether this be apprentices, students or graduates.”
Jack added: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me, to all the team at Redrow for their support over the years, everyone at the CIOB Merseyside & Cheshire committee, to my fiancée, Beth, and my family and friends.”
