HUNDREDS of people gathered at Warrington Rowing Club yesterday for the annual Great Warrington Duck Race, with hundreds of brightly coloured plastic ducks taking to the water in a fun-filled event supporting the local community.
The popular event attracted families, supporters and duck-race enthusiasts to the riverside, with the atmosphere boosted by the presence of Warrington Mayor Councillor Sagheer Zaman, who attended as the special guest.
The race saw the ducks released onto the water before making their way towards the finish line, with spectators cheering on their chosen competitors.
The event once again highlighted the strong community spirit surrounding Warrington Rowing Club, while also showcasing the important role played by local businesses in supporting community events across the town.
A number of local businesses backed this year’s Duck Race, helping organisers stage the event and bringing together the business and community sectors in support of a popular Warrington tradition.
The Great Warrington Duck Race has become a colourful fixture in the town’s summer events calendar, providing an entertaining day out for families while raising the profile of Warrington Rowing Club and its work within the local community.
With the river providing the perfect backdrop, yesterday’s event combined fun, fundraising and community spirit – with the Mayor’s attendance adding an extra civic touch to one of Warrington’s most unusual and much-loved races.
