Firefighters called out to four fires in the open

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to four fires in the open in the Warrington area on Monday evening, including a bonfire deemed to be in an unsafe location.

At 22:48, one crew from Penketh attended reports of a fire on Collins Green Lane, where firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish a bonfire after it was deemed to be in an unsafe location.

At 22:34, one crew from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Bridgewater Avenue, where firefighters extinguished a fire in the open using a hose reel. This is believed to have started accidentally due to a discarded cigarette.
At 21:58, one crew from Birchwood attended reports of a fire on Bridge Lane. A controlled burn which had gotten out of control was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
Earlier, at 20:55, one crew from Poynton attended a fire on Lymmhay Lane, where firefighters attended a small grass fire which was out on arrival. A water backpack and beaters were used to dampen down the affected area before using a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
