THE Mayor of Warrington, Cllr. Sagheer Zaman, and former Mayor, Cllr. Mo Hussain were on hand at the town hall to mark the official launch of local author Paul Woodage’s compelling new novel, “My Red Hand”.
As a proud Warringtonian, Paul described the occasion as an incredibly poignant milestone in his writing journey and expressed his gratitude for the support shown by both the current and former Mayors.
“My Red Hand” tells the moving story of James Williams, a bright and studious young boy whose perfect family life is shattered when his father is tragically killed by a drunken driver. As James struggles to rebuild his life, his mother finds love again with Steve, a man who initially appears kind and caring. However, beneath the surface lies a darker personality, and James soon finds himself enduring abuse at the hands of his stepfather.
The novel explores themes of grief, resilience, family relationships, and child abuse, shining a light on the challenges many young people sadly face while taking readers on an emotional and gripping journey.
Speaking about the launch, Paul Woodage said: “As a proud Warringtonian, today was an incredibly poignant occasion. I am confident that, with the support of the Mayor and the wonderful people of Warrington, this book can be a tremendous success. Not only does it highlight some of the very important issues many children sadly face on a daily basis, but it is also a fascinating read that will take readers on a roller-coaster of emotions.”
Plans are now underway at Warrington Town Hall to support the promotion of “My Red Hand”, with the hope that the local community will embrace the book and help raise awareness of the important issues it addresses.
Former Mayor Cllr Mo Hussain congratulated Paul on the publication of his novel and wished him every success, recognising the importance of literature in raising awareness of difficult social issues and encouraging meaningful conversations within the community.
Mayor Cllr Sagheer Zaman also welcomed the launch, praising Paul for using storytelling to highlight important social issues and wishing the book every success.
