LYMM Rugby Club’s Sara Worton has been awarded ‘Volunteer of the Year 2025’, by the Cheshire rugby community for many years of work on the world-famous Lymm Panto.
Sara was invited to the Cheshire RFU Awards Dinner held at Bowden Rugby Club and was one of five finalists, from rugby clubs throughout Cheshire, to be honoured.
‘Sara truly epitomises great qualities of commitment and effort at Lymm Rugby Club,’ commented club President John Cartwright. ‘She has worked tirelessly to pull this extraordinary show together, which is now in its 40th year.’
Sara has performed many roles, including the club’s Safety Officer for 5 years, but it is as a producer, director, seamstress and actress for the Panto that her volunteering work has shone through. This also includes recruitment and coaching of actors, from players in the senior teams to mums and dads of the junior players.
‘We are all delighted for Sara that she has won this award and offer her our heartiest congratulations,’ added John. ‘Her commitment and hard work is highly valued by all involved, and long may she continue with her outstanding contribution in helping us build this special rugby club,’ he concluded.
