Police patrols stepped up in town centre after man arrested with knife at Golden Square

POLICE have increased their presence in Warrington town centre today (Monday) after a man was arrested with a knife during an incident at Golden Square this morning.

A 53-year-old man was swiftly arrested on suspicion of affray at around 11.20 am today, Monday 18 May, when police were called to reports of a man with a knife at Golden Square, Warrington.
A small pocketknife was also recovered from the scene.
There were no reports of any injuries and there is no wider risk to members of the public.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “Patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance and anyone with concerns should contact us on 101 or speak to an officer.”
