Four fire crews tackle suspected arson incident near nature reserve

FOUR fire crews were called out following reports of two scrubland blazes believed to have been started deliberately near the Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve, Warrington.

At 20:43 on Wednesday, three fire engines from Lymm, Warrington and Penketh, and one fire engine from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended two fires involving scrubland, measuring approximately 60 metres.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a water backpack to extinguish the fires. Thermal imaging cameras were used to check for hotspots. This is believed to have been lit deliberately.

In another incident at 20:42, one fire engine from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Poplars Avenue, Orford.
A small fire that was deemed to be deliberate was extinguished by firefighters.
Earlier at 17:10, one fire engine from Warrington attended reports of a fire on Hunter Avenue, Warrington.
A small fire involving a bin was extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.
