Amentum UK and International has secured a place on United Utilities Water’s £45 million Commissioning Services Framework.
Birchwood, Warrington-based Amentum’s revenue share from the five-year framework will be up to £9 million and there is an option for a further five-year extension.
Its commissioning and completions team carries out checks on equipment such as pumps, valves, electrical systems, instrumentation and control systems to make sure they work safely and as intended, both individually and as a complete system.
Amentum also test the treatment processes under real operating conditions to confirm they meet performance and environmental standards. Once everything is proven, they support the transition to United Utilities’ operations teams and help build their capability to run and maintain the systems effectively on water and wastewater treatment sites, Better Rivers schemes, and bioresources projects.
Illy Andrews, Amentum Vice President, said: “Our work focuses on commissioning solutions, positioning Amentum to lead structured commissioning activities on live regulated assets, working alongside United Utilities’ internal teams and principal contractors.
“This win strengthens our position in the regulated water sector at a key point in the capital programme, provides a long-term route to market in the North West for our commissioning and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) capability, and also supports broader regional growth and client relationships.
“Our bid’s technical submission scored very strongly, reflecting our capability, the robustness of our commissioning methodology, environmental management approach and training model.”
Victoria Ridge, United Utilities’ Commissioning Manager, said: “Our new framework brings together specialist commissioning suppliers who will work alongside our inhouse team across our water, wastewater and Better Rivers programmes.
“By formalising commissioning as a defined discipline – with clear processes, standards and specialist expertise – we’re making sure assets are delivered safely, consistently and effectively across the programme.”
