Investigation underway after training bus crashes into railings

AN investigation is underway after a Warringtons Own Buses training vehicle crashed into railings in Warrington town centre this afternoon.

The incident led to traffic congestion across the town centre.

The collision occured on Academy Way near Warrington Market.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed that an incident had occured at around 3.45 pm. A bus driver trainer reported the crash involving a single-decker bus with a student he was training, which collided with railings.

A spokesperson for Warrington’s Own Buses said: “A training bus hit some railings today. The incident is being investigated and we can confirm that nobody was hurt.”
Cheshire police issued a further statement saying: “At around 3.42pm on Tuesday 3 March, officers in Warrington responded to reports of a road traffic incident in the Mersey Street area of Warrington.
“Attending the scene, officers found that a bus had collided with a railing and had subsequently blocked the carriageway.
“No arrests have been made and the road was reopened at around 4.55pm.”
